We have always had problems with dirty water and hazy water around our area; this can cause plenty of problems with your stomach and water system. Fed up with the situation I decided to go out and buy a tap filter hoping to bring an end to this for good. I can honestly say it has made a real difference to our water supply.

I started by finding the cheapest filter I could get my hands on, I went to my local hard ware store for the filter material. If you think about it! Why spend so much on a pre-made filter, I think home made ones do the same job. You then need a peace of pipe that will connect to the bottom of your tap along with the filter, you need to make sure it screws onto the tap because you will need to change the filter every six months.

I started by taking the pipe and attaching two nuts on each end, this is for fixing the filter to your tap and main pipe. You need to cover the top end of the pipe with the filter and screw the nut over it then seal the around the nut top connecting it to the pipe. Next take the assembly and attach it to your tails from the tap once fitted seal with silicon and attach your main supply.

I would leave it at least a week before using the sink but you will find it works great and is cost efficient. I have seen some ready made items on the market and none of them work out as cheap as this.
